Introduction

Practicing Yoga can be one of the best ways to keep your lungs and body healthy and fit. It stimulates blood flow to the lungs and washes out harmful toxins from lung muscles. Practicing Sukhasana regularly reduces stress and anxiety in our body.


Pranayama

This word combines of prana (in Sanskrit) which means LIFE FORCE and ayama means TO LENGTHEN. Practicing of pranayama helps in strengthening the muscles of the chest increases lung capacity and boosts the oxygen intake.

Sukhasana

Is a simple cross legged sitting asana which is typically used for meditation and Pranayama.

CAUTION: Do not practice this if you are suffering from knee problems. You may sit on a chair and do pranayama comfortably.

Most people think that YOGA is a special type of physical exercise, but the actual definition goes much deeper than the popular belief. It is actually a blend of various easy and intricate postures, contemplation and breathing techniques. The word “Yoga” owes its origin to the Sanskrit root “yuj”, which means “to unite”. Yoga may also be derived from the Sanskrit “yujir samadahu”, which means meditation or contemplation. The main objective of this ancient science is to create proper synchronization between the mind, body and soul.

•  It is best is to practice yoga in a place that is quiet and has fresh air.

•  It is advisable to begin yoga asanas and practice under the guidance of a trained instructor.

•  Never force or strain. Relax briefly between each practice

Yoga is not a religion and does not impose any religious code of conduct. According to the Indian sage Patanjali, yoga can be separated into eight limbs, known as 'yoga sutras'. Patanjali was one of the firsts to clearly systemize yoga with his eight-fold path:


  • Yama - moral conduct or restraints
  • Niyama - observances

  • Asana - postures

  • Pranayama - breath control
  • Pratyahara - withdrawal of the senses from external objects

  • Dharana - concentration
  • Dhyana - meditation
  • Samadhi - super conscious experience
